How to build a bench behind a sofa or get your furniture off the walls...

Hello Lovelies,
today I want to share a quick post how I build a bench sort of thingy in my living room.
I don`t need extra storage or something but wanted to have something behind my sofa,
to put a lamp or some plants on it.
So it is technically not a bench with space for storage,
it is simply a white board...
So I did build this, okay you can`t consider this building.

I simply got me 4 of the shelf mounting triangles and
an old wooden board I had around and mounted it to the wall.
Simple as that!

Oh but I did paint it though, so some effort was involved for sure... ;)

And here it is all finished!
Oh wait some cleaning was involved too... ;)

But now, with some decorations on and stuff ;)

I think it is a simple and effective way to get you some more decorative looks...
I for my self like it a lot! ;)

If you want to know how I did the pendant lamps above the coffee table or how the painting above the sofa came along or how the coffee and side table got their looks, simply check out the links below...

IKEA hack of some JOXTORP pendant lights and some pretty SÄTTRA jewels... ;)

As always love to read your comments!

DIY Juju Hat`s made from crepe paper!

Hello Lovelies, I thought of making a tutorial for you on this DIY
but thank God Pinterest has it all! ;)

If you like just hop on there and find what you are searching for or simply go to the
Because if you type in "paper juju hat" her blog pops out anyways, so save you some time and go there in the first place...
She did it and it came out perfectly! ;)

But I simply assume,
when you are reading some DIY blogs that you are capable of using
some scissors and a glue gun, you can handle some craft paper.
And you also can make some pretty DIY`s!
 Right?!;)

On mine I used some crepe paper
in silver and white and some brown packaging paper in light brown.

These were my inspirations right here, so beautiful...

These colors were by far my favorites.

By far the best decorating ideas... and again, love these neutral colors.

So pretty, right?

So what`s the fuzz, would you think.
"Why don`t go and buy you some? Oh, all right, the price right?! ;)
Because they are so expensive right?
And you like to knock off things, okay we get it..."

Nope, not quite
Have you ever thought about how they are made? And out of what?
Feathers!!!
And that is the point...
All that matters to me is why rip off an innocent living,
breathing creature of their precious life,
when you can create something similar and recycle at the same time?
No need for dead animal parts in my home!
And I never came across some fake feather juju hats, maybe poor research..
Or did you? If yes, please let me know.
So cruelty free decor, that was the important part for me once again.

The one or another may think different, but hey, that`s your opinion...

I think it is really important to educate yourself
where your decor comes from and is made out of what.
It is very important to wards you spend your money to and which industry you are supporting!

So, enough preaching for today...
Here are some more photos from my DIY!

I might do two smaller ones in black...

Here is what they look like in the side view, not that volumpsious but it`ll do the trick though ;)

So what do you think?
Are you with me on that cruelty free, money saving road or what?

Love to read your comments! ;)

My hallway/ 2nd entry revamp... after 5 years! ;)

Hello Lovelies,
so, here we go I finally finished my hall...
I finished it some time ago, but as always pretty dark here,
wanted to have some nice natural light to shoot.
And this is what I came up with.

I did the full program here ;)
Painted stairwell, walls, ceiling.
Painted a mural on the wall like you can see.
Added a new lamp, trim and a little shelf.
Put some decorations up and it was done!

Wanna see the before?
This was in 2010

and january 2011.

Kind of liked the butterflies but not the wall color or lamp and so many other things.

And I started the mural like this, with a stencil, wasn`t happy at all with it, so used it a bit, than went free hand... and liked it much more...

So on to the after photos, shall we?

Up the stairs we go...
We have two entries, the main one through our living room and the second one
belongs to my landlords but I use it frequently because my studio is in their basement as well and they love our cats so they can stay with them when we are out to work.
The kitties are kind of their grand children ;)
I did so much renovating with them in this house, that it fells like it`s mine but there are limits though, why I can`t rip out the stairs or cover them or something like that.

But obviously paint walls and change the light and add trim..:)

The rose pattern looks a bit busy with the granite stairs, here on the photos, but not at at all in reality.

This is the entry to my small hall and the white door leads to my bathroom.
So since we are up, now we can turn around and go downstairs, shall we? ;)

The light is from Ikea, it is made from paper and you can shape it like you want it to be, so cool.
It was a challenge to add the trim to this freaking crocked ceiling.
Oh my...

Added shelf with some art and succulent, of course.
And do you recognize the mirror?
Right still the same, but painted it gold to match the roses.

And here you can see the downstairs...

Did nothing major here, only paint that I already had.

Light grey wall paint, white ceiling paint, dark grey wall paint and gold paint all bought a while ago.
Maybe two or three years.

Black paint for stairwell 6€
Ikea pendant light 7,99€
( I have the same one, but slightly bigger for 14,99€ in my bedroom)
Ikea shelf 6,99€
Trim 5,99€

Total costs for this project;
round about 50€, considering the paint from two years ago.

Time consumed;
4 days

Lat me know what you think ;)
